I am not a full time blogger and I’m pretty sure that it’s something I’ve mentioned to you guys before. I thought it would be pretty nice to let you guys know what I’m working towards when I’m not running my blog.
Some of you might know that I’m a full time student in my local university. I decided not to move away for uni and I’m pretty glad that I made that decision to be honest. I’m currently in my first year and studying Medical Engineering. Let’s be honest, my discipline of engineering really isn’t the most popular one. And that’s why I wanted to talk to you guys about it.
I’ve wanted to do this degree since I was fourteen. It’s been my main goal since I was in year nine and I’ve been so excited to start my degree which will hopefully lead me into a career path in the same field. Without a shadow of a doubt I can tell you guys that I’ve not been disappointed by what I’m learning so far. I’m in love with my degree course so much that even days where I’m in 9 until 6 don’t seem to bad.
I always get asked what Medical Engineering is and a lot of the time people seem to think I mean Mechanical Engineering. Medical Engineering is responsible for more than most people think. From prosthetics to the equipment that hospitals use, Medical Engineers are behind all of that and more. We take biology and combine with modern day engineering to help streamline healthcare and honestly, I think that’s pretty amazing.
My timetable for semester one and semester two has been pretty intense but I love it like that. Mostly because it’s packed full of modules that I love. I’ve got about 22 contact hours a week and I know that compared to some other degrees, I have a lot more hours in lectures. Don’t get me wrong, there are days that I would love to lie in a bit more and come home a little earlier but it’s all to work towards a degree that I’m in love with.
There was a slight bit of fear that I had before I started uni. I was really worried that I wasn’t going to end up enjoying my degree. It wouldn’t live up to my expectations. My degree is so much more than I was expecting it to be and I’m so so glad about that.
So, that’s what my degree is and you’ve read me rambling about it for a little now.
I’d love to know what you guys are studying at the moment if you’re in education and if not, what do you outside of blogging?
